| | My Printer Won't Print
I went to the office of a customer who had called to say their printer wasn't doing the
job. It wasn't printing the file. Just a lot of rubbish on the paper.
When I got there I asked the customer to print the file for me. Sure enough
garbage appeared on the paper. The printer was not installed by me so I checked
the configuration in control panel (windows 95), checked the BIOS setting,
removed, then reinstalled the driver, tried printing from DOS, changing the
printer cable and eventually swapping the printer for a replacement I had
brought along. Being a printer manufacturing engineer at the time, I scratched
my head and pondered, show me the file you are trying to print, I said to the
customer. When the file opened up in a window the contents were exactly the same
as on the paper, garbage.
